Initiated in 2007 by Catherine Lelardeux and Pierre Lagarrigue and officially started in 2013, the Serious Game Research Network (SGRN) is a scientific partnership between several research institutions and game companies centered upon Serious Games both as an applied research discipline and a consumer market. The SGRN is acknowledged by the Université fédérale de Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées, which is an association of universities and higher education institutions (ComUE). Jean-François Champollion is the hosting university. The SGRN gathers researchers from various disciplines: Science and Technology, Health and Social Science.
The network has three major ambitions:
- to detect and to pilot research projects having a significant and foreseeable economic reach,
- to ensure a technological watch on Serious Games for the benefit of its members, and
- to promote the research results and know-hows developed by its members.
Among the missions and competencies of the SGRN:
- Preliminary study to the modelling or marketing of a serious game,
- Development of tools for facilitating the modelling a serious game,
- Development of game prototypes, and
- Games evaluation.
